DURL MAKES THE PODIUM! NO, REALLY! AN AMAZING TRUE STORY... I recently finished third, beating out a couple of very good racers (who usually kick my butt) in the Mare Island 600 at Eddie's Slot Car World in Vallejo. I'd like to think it was my superior driving skill or the fact that its my home track, but we both know that's a lie. The reason is that I used a Durl's interior, which I usually do anyway, but this time I attached it to the car in a new way, as described by a Florida racer on Old Weird Herald. It works with (urp!) petrochemical-based plastic interiors, too, but I'm not here to judge. Here's how ya do it: after trimming and folding the interior to your satisfaction staple it, once through the body at the back of the interior just below the rear window. Let the front of the interior hang down without attaching it to the body. This does a few things: it lowers the center of gravity, adds flex to the body, and holds the interior in better than tape. It pretty much porks any shot at concours, but hey, paper interiors are for winners, not beauty queens. KONDREK WINS WITH THE DURL ADVANTAGE!
ANOTHER AMAZING TRUE STORY... Proving that a fast car and a talented driver just aren't enough anymore, Northern California's Greg Kondrek used ingenuity and a Durl interior to win November's NorCal/SCRA Pro Division LMP race. Taking a standard 4 inch Durl interior and trimming it to fit a JK Mercedes CLR body, Kondrek found that the Durl interior gave him the self-confidence and personal pride he needed to resoundingly beat some of NorCal's best racers. Kondrek commented after the race "Who knew an interior could make that kind of difference? I'm convinced, and I haven't been drinking."
If my interiors helped you win in racing or concours, I'd like to know the story. And if I use it on this web site, I'll send you six interiors of your choice absolutely free! Just click here and tell me all about it. Interiors and all content herein © 2009 DARRYL VANCE. All rights reserved. |
