film title design

Early in my career I provided effects for the documentary film "The Making of 'Gone With The Wind'" in which I used digital tools to de-construct then put back together special effects done in 1939 with glass, matte paintings and in-camera wizardry. That was odd. And why did I bring this up? Oh, yeah, I do title design and animation for film. Still.

THE DARWIN AWARDS: Title and credit design | The title animation flew out of the screaming mouth of David Arquette. The talent credits were comped over footage in post. [ quicktime movie ]

THE COCKETTES: Interstitial title design | For this feature documentary I created titles to reflect the directors desire for something that appeared to be older than it was. I also decided to use various printers dingbats in the frames to reflect the events to come: flowery hippie-esque in the beginning, harder art deco stuff for the early seventies in New York. THE FIRE NEXT TIME | Client: The Working Group | This PBS-aired film chronicles the ongoing conflict over the environment in Kalispell, Montana and the role conservative talk radio plays in that dispute. [ quicktime movie ]

FREEDOM MACHINES | Client: Jamie Stobie & Janet Cole | A documentary film showing how computers are helping the differently-abled connect with the world, it aired on PBS's "P.O.V." series. [ quicktime movie ]
